Target
To analysis and critique a historical product, researching and interpreting the historical and present day influence of the product and how the product measures up to my own expectations.
Background
As the brief included students to select a historical product that was over 25 years old, I chose to critique the Golliwog doll. It was my chance to highlight one of the worst products to be made and inform people why. As such, this also influenced my design decisions with the poster as I wanted to show its historical influence and how long it's been recurring in society. More importantly, I wanted shock factor. I wanted to shock people with doll. I wanted to intimidate and hold people accountable with the doll. To tell them it's history, it's life and warn people of its horror.
